New fashion illustration on the way

Following Geisha Girl who is nearly complete, this is my next fashion piece! There will be a crown of roses on her head, with a ton of detail in some parts and fairly minimal in others to let the denser areas breathe

New Christmas Cards on the way!

AOI Best of British Illustration 2012 Exhibition and Book

Here is my maiden contribution to the annual Images competition, where I have been featured in this year's Best of British Illustration publication by the AOI, being represented by the 'Dorothy in the Deadly Poppy Field piece'. I have already begun pondering whether to do a sequel piece to it for the 2013 competition!

Amelia

This is the very first sketch of a big new project I shall be working on in the next 6 months- year. I roughed this 5 minute scribble just to get into paper what Amelia will look like; inquisitive, ambitious, and ready for an adventure.
The character was written by an author I will be working alongside for this project to bring her to life, I have been given the creative freedom to craft her exactly how I imagine. This is a sneak peek.

Bunny Girl

Here is a brand new illustration which is a character I will be sending out to publishers as part of a new set. My work has consciously taken on a more vintage AND modern feel in regards to fashion, and the characters are still somewhat stylised but also more realistic in their features

Bunny Girl update

Here is a sneak peak of the finished illustration, cleverly titled 'bunny girl' for now. All the post production starts now, I'll be teaming up with my sometimes reliable buddy Photoshop to lay down the colours and bring it to life.

Expressional Work

This is a character sheet I have created of a girl I plan to use in a picture book story. I want to build on my variety of expressions so I am confident in illustrating all kinds of emotions.

Bunny Girl

This is the fourth of a new set of illustrations which introduce a more realistic finish. This is my last girl character before I move onto creating some characters with a bigger breadth of age, including a step-mother type, and a grandfather. I will print these as promo work and send them to publishers.

New character illustration

This is an illustration based on the father character in my first story Piano & the Boy. The style is not at all caricatured unlike the previous character. I am working on a crop of illustrations with this realistic finish, however I do plan to complete my previous stories and continue the more cartoon-like style of Piano & the Boy and Halo.

Girl with pink hair!

This is my brand new illustration I have been perfecting for quite a while. I wanted to evolve my illustration style so it has a more realistic aspect, yet with some slight caricaturing with the larger head comparative to the rest of the body. I also wanted to infuse a style that could be described as both modern and vintage 50s, which is a theme and direction I began with Piano & the Boy and have now consciously continued and refined.

Pudding Lane

This is my reinvisioning of 17th Century London Pudding Lane where the Great Fire began. The famouse St Pauls Cathedral cowers over in the distance, whilst roaming rats and claustrophobically close-knit houses depict the austerity of this period. This piece is for a start up theatre in London to whom I have created several pieces for in the last 2 years.

ITS TIMMMMMMMMMMMEEEE!

This is a poster I designed and illustrated for UFC 150 using different grades of grey pens.

It features MMA fighters from two bouts, Henderson v Edgar & Cerrone v Guillard (with the latter's trademark blonde barnet), and legendary octagon announcer Bruce Buffer hosting precedings in the centre.

Peter Pan illustration

This is the original sketch for the Peter Pan piece I have been working on with my regular clients based in London. I have amended the placement of Tinkerbell so her body is incorporated into the title.

Teaser

Here is a sneaky teaser of the new piece I have been working on. I really want my work to touch on all bases: with a taste for fashion; to be executed with high quality, whilst achieving a strong variety of expressions across my characters.
I'm going to put the foot on the gas and have this piece completed for the middle of the week before starting a commission to quickly follow up 'The Victorians' piece, this time Peter Pan

New Piece

This is a sneaky preview at a new piece I am working on, a girl of around 12 who will have bright pink hair. I aim to illustrate around 6 new picture book characters to show my range of ability in illustrating a variety of people types, and some animals too!

New theatre show illustration

This is an illustration I have produced for a show called 'The Victorians' which tells of a boy's toils in Victorian England. It is the fourth time I have been commissioned by a small theatre company in London to produce these illustrations and I hope there's more to come as it is an enjoyable side project.

Zizzi 'Fresh Talent' plate design Competition

My entry for the ‘Fresh Talent’ competition has a vintage approach. I have incorporated the colours of the flag of Italy- home to Zizzi’s cuisine- into my design.
The pose of the barmaid echoes the style of classic pin-ups. Her dark features reflect her Mediterranean roots and the wine glasses embody the spirit of Italian culture.
The illustration blends lush glamour and a sense of home and promotes the freshness and authenticity of the Italian cuisine at Zizzi’s, which is ‘Deliciously Stylish’.

The winner of this competition has their design printed and used in 250 Zizzi restaurants across the UK.

Serco Prize for Illustration 2012 Entry 'Brompton Road'

This is the first time I have entered the Serco Prize for Illustration in collaboration with London Transport Museum, this year's theme is Secret London.

This poster design is titled 'Brompton Road', named after the little known Underground station which was closed down in the mid 1930s, before being used as a control centre during WWII. I have reimagined the tube station harking back to its 1930s heyday, drenched in romance and optimism.

Along with physically depicting the Underground/Overground systems, it also bridges the evolution of transport. As Brompton Road's legacy ended, tentative steps were being made towards the production of the new Routemaster, eventually rolling out in 1954 and has now become the iconic red London bus.

Ladyhawke Portrait Competition Entry

Hot off the heels of the Florence Competition, I have submitted my illustration for the Ladyhawke Portrait competition, the 20 hand picked winners will be promoted across social media channels and have a special 12" vinyl pressing of their winning entry printed and signed.

This is my entry, there are 20 hours left to vote on this illustration. If you like it, do vote for it!

Ohh Deer 'Stuck on Repeat' Competition

I have whipped up this entry for the Ohh Deer competition using my recent picture book cat character! I have been working on different elements of my picture book work, expanding from bees and mice and little creatures to more complex characters that contain more expression!
I have tesselated the pattern with grey and ginger cats and the winner has their work printed on note books and other stationery!
